Our favourite review and our mission - to make every visitor have such a great time that they look back in years to come with fond memories and smiles.
We are a family-run pottery painting studio based in Hoylake on the beautiful Wirral peninsula. Opened in 2006, we pride ourselves on being friendly, helpful and accessible to all - we believe everyone can paint!
Pottery painting is a lovely activity for all ages and abilities. The hardest part of the process is choosing your pottery from the massive selection. We give you some helpful tips and tricks to get you going and we're always on hand if you need a little more help. When you've finished painting, you leave your pottery with us for a week or so and we'll glaze and fire it in our on-site kilns.
Whether you come in with friends or family, or on your own for a little me-time, you'll feel rested and relaxed when you leave - and you'll have made something completely unique and personal.
Our aim is to make everyone feel welcome in our lovely creative space.
Our Story
Jeanette started the Potting Shed in August 2006, in the grounds of a garden centre outside Heswall, hence the name. Not the most original but we like it!

Running a creative business was a long-standing dream and here we are more than 17 years later, wondering where the time has gone and feeling blessed to have shared that time with the lovliest people on the planet.
​
We moved to Hoylake in 2014 and now have seating for 50+ painters, a large purpose-built kiln room, a kitchen big enough for Eddie to bake all our cakes and loads of shelving for our huge choice of pottery. Our dream was to create a place where people of all ages can spend time together with their family and friends, having tons of creative fun in comfortable surroundings. We hope you love it as much as we do!

You can be a complete beginner and create something beautiful in just a few hours, you do not have to be artistic to make something you can be proud of.

Our passion will always be painting pottery but we are a creative, curious bunch and we love learning new skills- we have guest tutors throughout the year to teach a range of creative crafts - everything from chocolate making to calligraphy. Check out the Event Page for upcoming workshops.

We couldn't do anything without our wonderful Potting Shed Team. Over the years our team have turned into a big extended family. Happy staff make the place feel warm and welcoming, they are a special bunch of people. Come and meet them!
